Ben Birkinbine Another top-notch addition to the Often the Thinker catalog. The collaboration with Charles Spearin really shines through here with familiar stylistic elements but also pushing OTT in new creative directions. Favorite track: Begging Morning.

jaredmatt For fans of: beauty. My favorite album so far this year. OTT keeps up their stellar track record of gorgeous releases. By turns pensive, emotive, otherworldly, majestic, deep, delicate, grand.... without ever being pretentious. Another high artistic achievement that you should not miss. Favorite track: Sincere Belief.

about

Fifteen years after their first release, Often the Thinker has just released their fifth LP, Sincere Insanity. In adding Broken Social Scene’s multi-instrumentalist Charles Spearin for production and additional instrumentation, the collective finds themselves more mature and more patient, harnessing an energy that is both hopeful and somber, delicate and dense, pure and unselfish. The new LP is anything but a quick listen; with ample dynamics and space, the album showcases the importance of writing a record as a whole. Often the Thinker asks the listener to commit entirely to the record and the elegant world that is Sincere Insanity.
